BMTC has one of the most affordable bus fare structures among Indian metros. With a base fare of just ₹5 for the first 4 km on ordinary buses, BMTC is the cheapest way to get around Bengaluru. This page lists the current BMTC fare chart for ordinary, Big-10, Volvo (Vayu Vajra), airport and metro feeder services, along with daily, weekly and monthly pass prices and concession details.

Ordinary Bus Fares

BMTC ordinary (non-AC) buses charge a stage-based fare. The minimum fare is ₹5 for the first stage (up to 4 km), then ₹5 increments for each subsequent stage. End-to-end fares on long ordinary routes can reach ₹35-45. Senior citizens (60+) and persons with disabilities get 50% off.

Big-10 (G-series) Fares

Big-10 buses are slightly costlier than ordinary services — minimum ₹10 for the first stage and ₹5 per additional stage. Big-10 fares are roughly 1.5× the corresponding ordinary fare on the same corridor.

Vayu Vajra (Volvo) Fares

Volvo AC buses have a base fare of ₹15 for the first 4 km and ₹10 per additional stage. End-to-end Volvo fares on long routes can reach ₹90-120. The Volvo daily pass is ₹120 and the monthly pass is ₹2,500.

How to Pay

BMTC accepts cash, BMTC Smart Card, Namma Metro open-loop card, RuPay contactless and UPI via the Namma BMTC app. Cash payments slow down boarding, so regular commuters should buy a pass or load a Smart Card.
